Our story

A word from Xavier and Grégory

“We are proud to have taken over this business for more than 20 years now. We are ensuring that this exceptional know-how, which has existed for 75 years, is maintained, safeguarded and passed on. We are a family business and we promote this even in our workshop. We are labeled Company of Living Heritage and Master Craftsmen in Arts and Crafts and we are proud of that, we work every day to maintain the values of this label. We love beauty and strive to make tin shine throughout the world, so we continue to work on this noble material day after day.”

History of society

Mr. Giraud and partner Mr. André Gros, who was passionate about silverware, founded in 1947 the famous dinanderie in Lyon later, Les Étains de Lyon.

A small family business, it opened its doors in Villeurbanne for the first time, as if in a nod of destiny. The profession of tin potter captivates the place to create the flagship objects of the art of the table. This was the beginning of our modern know-how: tools were shaped, techniques were invented so that tin could be introduced to everyone.

The arrival of the new century turned everything upside down, since in January 2002, the brothers Grégory and Xavier LAURENT took over the reins of the company. They are pressing on with the plan that was written up until now to build new bases, that is the birth of the Étains de Lyon. Guided by the love of interior design and their growing ambition, their path leads them to the creation of bar counters and worktops to warm your interiors with the elegance of tin. The foundations are consolidated with the three times obtaining the Label Entreprise du Patrimoine viveur and the title of Master Craftsman in Art Craft.

We have unique expertise that we don’t want to see disappear. Training is essential for us, in our workshops but also in our various services, through internships and apprenticeships. We know that French crafts will only last with the help of tomorrow’s generation, and each member of the team is doing their part by sharing their expertise.

Our expertise

We are Master Craftsmen in the art trade, tin maker, so we only realize the tops in tin bar, counters and kitchens.

Because of this, we are used to working with designers, architects, cabinetmakers, carpenters, but also individuals, we will accompany each so that the final rendering is up to your expectations.

Each tin track is made on a wooden support that you provide us or that we make according to the dimensions transmitted. The latter, particularly for kitchens, can incorporate the necessary cutouts for sinks and cooking plates. The must: a stainless steel sink attached under plan with the slope of the drain integrated in the tin plane.

With around 50 different edge profiles, our achievements will fit perfectly into very traditional and contemporary style projects. We also have the opportunity to work with you on a custom border. The centerpiece of the piece, you can customize your counter by engraving your logo on the track or tex

The choice is yours, we will adapt our production accordingly!
